Our aims

1. To raise the quality and diversity of work presented in the South West

  • Identify and develop an agreed number of partnerships with key individuals and organisations outside the region
  • Identify and develop an agreed number of partnerships with venues in the region
  • Create an attractive, accessible package for venues/artists that brings quality international work into the region

    2. To raise the quality and diversity of work produced in the South West

  • Integrate regional practitioners within the work of Objective 1 (i.e. partnership development, visiting international artists)
  • Create a critical framework/feedback system for practitioners in the region, including the sharing of best practice
  • Create a support framework for practitioners

    3. To provide promotional opportunities for quality South West work on a national and international scale

  • Mount a regional showcase of quality regional practitioners
  • Integrate this within the relationships built under Objective 1 to develop touring
  • Create a promotional vehicle/legacy for longer term reference within and outside the region
  • Establish closer links with the National Rural Touring Foundation.

    4. To develop, diversify and sustain our audiences

  • Encourage practitioners and promoters to see work
  • Build links with audiences of non-professional theatre
  • Increase the information available on audiences in the region
  • Support individual venues to develop their programmes and audiences
  • Integrate this with the work of Objectives 1 and 2.

    5. To increase access to quality work for young people as audiences and participants

  • Give young people opportunities to understand how theatre is really made and shown
  • Provide CPD for youth theatre directors/leaders, including sharing of best practice
  • Mount regional youth theatre events
  • Encourage use of regional youth theatre website resource
  • Integrate this with the work of Objectives 1 and 2

    6. To increase non arts investment into theatre in the South West

  • Support the advocacy of the role and achievements of theatre in the South West through the research/creation of appropriate advocacy tools
